Tree Planting

  • Join us in contributing to the conservation of our jungle and the protection of critical habitat.

KPL (the conservation organisation that Simolap Wild Adventures helps to fund) is excited to offer a unique opportunity for environmentally conscious tourists who want to leave a lasting impact on their travels. As part of our commitment to conservation, our conservation organisation KPL is always excited to have a few extra hands to help with reforesting the borderlands of the National Park.

During this activity, you will immerse yourself in the jungle greenery, and learn about all of the important work that we do in preserving the jungle and protecting Gunung Leuser National Park. Equipped with shovels and saplings, you will have the chance to make a tangible difference by planting indigenous trees. Our guides will share valuable insights into the role of these trees in sustaining wildlife ecosystems, improving air quality, and combating climate change.

Each tree you plant will continue to grow long after you leave, and our commitment to nuturing the seedlings after you leave means that they are sure to grow in to old, large trees that will sustain life for many years to come.

Apart from the ecological impact, our tree planting activity promises an authentic cultural experience. You will collaborate with our enthusiastic conservation entrepreneurs, learning about their traditional practices and absorbing their profound respect for nature. Embrace the chance to forge meaningful connections with our team and our community.

No prior experience is required to participate in our tree planting activities and this is suitable for all travellers whether you are a family, a group of friends, or a solo explorer.

Waterfall Adventure

(includes fruit platter, tea, coffee, a short river walk, guide and assistant)

  • Spend the afternoon relaxing by a pristine waterfall, enjoying lunch by the running water and jumping in and out of the river. Begin your walk right from our guesthouse doorstep and walk with a guide up the river (looking for signs of wildlife and learning about the jungle along the way). As your guide leads the way, keep your senses attuned to the symphony of exotic birdcalls and sounds of the jungle. This walk will take approximately 20 minutes before the dense jungle opens up to reveal a hidden waterfall where you will spend the afternoon.

Community Clean Up

Price: 200,000 IDR / $13 per person

This cost goes entirely to contribute to organising a collection that helps our community prevent plastic from polluting our environment.

  • Join us in fighting plastic pollution in our community by helping with a community clean up. This can be anything from helping to maintain our community infrastructure to working with our community members in collecting trash from the environment.

Rally together with community members to keep our jungle and the border areas pristine. Roll up your sleeves and get involved in restoring the natural beauty of our area and get to know members of the local village in an authentic way.

We really appreciate any helping hands, and when we are done we will all sit together to enjoy a cold drink and a meal together. Create new friendships, exchange stories and ideas, and forge new partnerships that will continue to make a positive impact long after the clean-up.

The fee for this activity is used to contribute to organising a rubbish collection. As we are so remote, whenever we can, KPL organises a collection of rubbish which reduces the need to burn plastic and allows for recyclable materials to be reused.

Want to pack more into your adventure?

As we have very few groups stay at a time to prevent overtourism, your time in Simolap is completely customisable! Add any of these activities to your itinerary and you’ll get even more out of your time with us.
