Itinerary:

Leaving from our Guesthouse, we will follow the river until we reach our first waterfall where we will stop to relax and enjoy the lush forest surrounding this special spot.

From here, we will have an increased chance at spotting wildlife activity. We will trek to an area known for its wild fruit trees and search for evidence of animal activity. In this area of the National Park you can find wild Sumatran Orangutans, Gibbons, Silver Monkeys, Thomas Leaf Monkeys and Forest Turtles. There are also a range of reptiles, insects, birds and even sometimes evidence of Sun Bears and Sumatran Tiger activity.

We will also tell you about the healing properties of the plants that have traditionally been used for medicinal purposes here. All of our guides have spent decades in this jungle and love to tell our guests all about the incredible plants and animals in Gunung Leuser National Park.

After stopping for a delicious lunch we will continue our trek for a few hours, continuing to search for wildlife until we reach Teroh-Teroh waterfall, a great place to stop and cool off in the clear water. We will enjoy some fresh tropical fruits before continuing our trek back to the hot springs. We will aim to return around 4:30pm so that we can share some drinks, soak in the hot springs, and share our experiences!

Some other parts of the jungle we can visit on request are Simolap caves and our restoration area overlooking the jungle canopy (the perfect spot for birdwatchers!).
